Member Collaborative Pages, Member Content

Do want your members to be able to contribute content to your website, find out how here.

Membership participation of content is available via

  • forums (via direct participation)
  • blog comments (via direct participation)
  • business directory (via registration)
  • FAQ pages (via administrator tab, top right when editing your FAQ page)
  • Advertiser pages (via administrator tab, top right when editing your advertiser page)
  • Gallery pages - per photo (via administrator tab, top right when editing your photo page)
  • Shared Page - Collaborative Editing (all members with access to page can edit, public can view if enabled.)

Forums and Blog comments are straight forward, anyone who has access to view can add their posts or comments.

The business directory is a fantastic option for giving your users the chance to have their own page, and edit their own content. They can add and host 1 photo directly, but can embed other photos/videos/etc from afar. Content changes are published automatically

The FAQ, Advertiser, and Gallery pages are all based on the same database, and you can change page layouts between them. It is not the whole page that members can edit, only their specific subpages or photos allocated to them via the "administrator tab" top right while editing one of those pages in the CMS. Once a member has access, they can edit via your website (not the CMS), and they will get access to the page in their members login (irrespective of the viewing security of the gallery/faq as a whole). They can add and host 1 photo directly, but can embed other photos/videos/etc from afar. Content changes are published automatically to their main page, however, the CMS administrator still needs to click publish to make changes to the index page.

Shared Pages for collaborative editing are more interesting, and provide some issues too. Essentially all authorised users who can view the page, can also edit the page. If 2 users edit the page at the same time, there is no warning, and the last one to save changes, will get to keep their changes only. This type of page is not normally published, but avoid giving it a filename to be on the same side.

If you have a specific other requirement for collaborative editing, then please contact us. Fees will apply for creating that functionality.
